Tinkerbell – DVD Review

We decided to buy the new DVD, Tinkerbell.  I was not to sure how the movie would be.  I was never a Peter Pan fan growing up but both my kids sure know who Peter Pan is.  Saturday night,  we sat down and watched the movie.  It was a very good straight to DVD movie from Disney.

Here is the basic description of the plot. Tinker Bell will speak in an original film that reveals many of the mysteries of nature through this Disney story.   Tinker Bell opens the doors to Pixie Hollow, a secret hideaway deep in the heart of Never Land, where the Disney Fairies make their home.

I enjoyed the message from the film of recognizing who you are and what your talents are and how you can help the world with your own talents, instead of wishing for another person’s talent. Also a nice theme theme of dreaming for things that other people say you can never have, and having the will to work for it anyways is written into this story.

The animation is really good and the movie had a great story with some good themes. My 2 1/2 year old daughter sat through most of the movie as well as my four year old son.   If you are thinking of pick it up, I would highly recommend it.  I would give this movie a 4.5 stars out of 5.

Kids are cute

We have recently been playing a match game with my son.

Usually we will play with about 15 matched pairs of tiles…so a total of 30 tiles. Mix up the 30 tiles and then arrange them FACE DOWN in a 6 by 5 grid. Play starts by having one player turn over 2 tiles. If the  picture of the 2 tiles is the same, the player picks up these 2 tiles and turns over 2 more. If the 2 tiles are not the same, the tiles are turned back face down in the same place they were and it is the next player’s turn. The object of the game is to remember where similar tiles are located and to pick up as many pairs as possible. The winner of the game is the one who has the most tiles at the end of the game.

The other night, our four year old son was teaching his two year old sister on how to play the game.  it was so cute to watch them play.  The boy was helping his sister and she did really good with his help.  After they were done, my son counted out  how many pairs he had and how many his sister had.  Of course he won, but then he asked his sister to give him a high five for a good game played.

Moments like this is priceless.  It is interesting to see the habits our kids pick up from us.  After I would finish playing the game, I would always tell my son to give me a high five.  After watching the kids play, my wife and I joined them for another game.

Old Disneyland Rides

I ran across this website while trying to remember the name of the Skyway ride at Disneyland.  It is a cool website to remember back when I use to go to Disneyland when I was a kid.

Many of the attractions I have never seen or been on but there are a few that I do recall.  It is a fun website to go through.  I can’t believe i went on the Captain EO ride as a kid and thought it was one of the coolest rides in my life at that time.  I remember going on the Mission to the Moon ride as a kid and actually thought we went to the moon.  Boy I was such a dork.

Well here is the link below. Enjoy!

Kids are a blast

It was quite empty at swimming lessons today.  I was surprised at how many kids were not there.  I guess many families like to take Friday off to get away for weekend activities.

After swimming, we went to a free concert in the park.  The concert was geared for children with kid’s music.  Of course, my kids, would rather run around and somehow sneak over to the playground than listen to the music.  It was a great workout for me on a Friday evening.  The things we do for kids and they like to enjoy the simple things. The kids like to see how far can we wander from dad before he notices we are gone or they think maybe we can outrun him.  At least they run in a pack going in one direction.

Our First Pet

I can’t believe it.  My kids have their first pet.  I never really wanted a pet but time has come to let the kids have a pet.  I know everyone has their stories of their favorite pet or their first pet.  I always grew up with cats and at one point we had a dog.  I also liked having a fish, very low maintenance.  Well, any guesses yet?

Is it a dog, cat, bird, or a fish?   NOOOOOO!

We have a pet caterpillar, that we adopted for a nominal fee from the Pasadena Kids Museum.

It is currently in it’s cocoon transforming into a beautiful butterfly.  God was very imaginative when he created the catapiller.  This weird looking creature transforms into something so beautiful.
