I went to work today in the morning. I am in the process of cleaning our Burn-In Department. Over the last year, we had a lot of construction in this department. The place needed cleaning and a couple of people volunteered to come in. I spent about four hours cleaning the area up all by myself. My volunteers were nowhere to be found.
I came home and played WII MarioKart with the kids. After their nap time, we visited some old friends. We got home a little late and now the kids are fast asleep. Hopefully the kids sleep in tomorrow. :>
We decided to buy the new DVD, Tinkerbell. I was not to sure how the movie would be. I was never a Peter Pan fan growing up but both my kids sure know who Peter Pan is. Saturday night, we sat down and watched the movie. It was a very good straight to DVD movie from Disney.
Here is the basic description of the plot. Tinker Bell will speak in an original film that reveals many of the mysteries of nature through this Disney story. Tinker Bell opens the doors to Pixie Hollow, a secret hideaway deep in the heart of Never Land, where the Disney Fairies make their home.
I enjoyed the message from the film of recognizing who you are and what your talents are and how you can help the world with your own talents, instead of wishing for another person’s talent. Also a nice theme theme of dreaming for things that other people say you can never have, and having the will to work for it anyways is written into this story.
The animation is really good and the movie had a great story with some good themes. My 2 1/2 year old daughter sat through most of the movie as well as my four year old son. If you are thinking of pick it up, I would highly recommend it. I would give this movie a 4.5 stars out of 5.
It was not the weekend we planned. First, my little princess got sick. My son was sick most of last week and he gave her what he had. We struggled giving her medicine and she would say, ” I don’t want it.” To be honest, I was a bit worried at night time on Friday and Saturday with her fever and cough. It seems that her fever is finally going away today (Monday).
Sunday, I decided to use the BBQ. I had been marinading the steak for a couple days and was ready to fire up the grill. I open the grill and saw a field mouse lounging on the coals. I closed the lid and ran into the house. After a few minutes I went back outside and opened the grill. It looked like the mouse was gone. I fired up the grill and the next thing I noticed, a mouse was still in the grill. He was trying to jump out of the top of the grill but he could not fit. Well, it seemed like I waited an eternity but I finally ventured outside with my wife to see if the mouse was dead. As we approach the grill we saw the mouse drop out of the bottom of the BBQ and run out of the yard.
After the excitement, my wife and I decided not to BBQ the steak. We ended up picking up pizza from a hole in the wall pizza place down the street. My kids barely ate any of the pizza.
It started out rather well. After I came home from work, we decided to take the kids to see Kung Fu Panda. We met up with my wife’s friend and her daughter. The kids did better than expected. The boy got up a few times to goto the bathroom. The princess spent most of the time running around the movie theater. I really wanted to see how the movie was going to end, so I bribed the princess with some M & Ms. It worked, and I saw the end of the movie. :>
Later that evening, my wife’s friend offered to watch the kids so we can go to IKEA to get a kids loft bed. Of all the things we could do by ourselves and we go to IKEA . We decided it would be easier to make a decision about the furniture without the kids. We spent an hour deciding between two different loft beds and finally decide on one. My wife and I hurried through the store to get ready to check out. For the particular items we needed (the loft bed, the mattress, and a tent for the bed), we need to pick them up right before the register. It’s rather simple, your are given an aisle number and a bin number. The three items we came for were all out of stock. That’s great! This is not our day.
We went to pick up our kids and we stayed for dinner. They had some delicious BBQ chicken and fresh gucamole and chips. I wonder why my BBQ chicken does not come out like that? So I guess this is a positive.
We came back to our place and found some teenagers in the pool. That is not surprising for a Saturday night. They decided to vandalize the spa area by putting bubbles in the spa. This can cause damage to the filtration system. My wife asked them many questions and of course none of them live in the area. They hopped the fence out of the pool area and ran off to their car. They were quite rude with their responses to my wife. I can not believe teenagers today. I don’t mind if they want to use the pool but just keep it quiet and don’t vandalize it.
Today we had a birthday party for our little princess. It was interesting to see 8 kids running around our place. The ages of the children ranged from 18 months to almost four years old. I was shocked at how well everything went. Yes the house went from clean to disaster status in about one hour. We have learned to shorten the length of the party. We ended the party at a little after one in the afternoon but this allowed the parents to keep their nap schedule for their kids.
We also learned to keep it simple. We stayed with the Elmo theme that our princess picked out. Instead of BBQ, we picked up a few pizzas at Costco. This kept it simple and easy.
